Digital STB is keeping on continuous
development from early simple, receiving centric broadcasting
products to in-house multimedia complex and a core platform
of home networking having PVR, DVB-MHP, and networking functions
built-in.
A PVR (Digital Video Recorder)
is similar to a VCR except instead of recording to the video
and audio data to a tape, it records it to set top box which
is built into a DVR. The hard drives can store from days to
months of video.
PVR should have local storage for program recording, and network
functions for EPG information and program search so that it
is the most powerful candidate to step to home-server.
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting),

Data Transmission Service such as caption broadcasting, mobile
call, and motion capture by digitalizing Radio broadcast.
IPTV is kind of set top box, which
is connected to internet through ADSL network and convertible
to data in digital type, especially to digital broadcast, therefore,
it is potent to realize a variety of multimedia services through
interactive services, and service integration with current broadcasting
services by realizing T-commerce.
Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) is
the open middleware system designed by the DVB Project, a fundamental
solution applicable to a set top box to make data broadcast
possible.
Interactive data broadcasting services are provided by broadcast
provider that constructed data broadcasting transmission system,
and viewers use interactive services like VOD, shopping mall,
daily-life information, banking, pizza delivery, reservation,
purchasing and IT services like VoIP, home-networking as well
as television programs.
